What is Manicure and Pedicure?

This is basically the finger and toe nails care routine. It involves a lot of methods like filing, shaping, cutting, pushing the nail with a cuticle pusher, hand massage and finally apply fresh nail paint. Manicure is doing all the above to your finger nails while pedicure is doing the same to your toe nails.

We all know how important manicure and pedicure is for our nails. But sometimes it becomes hard to spare some time for them. So here is a time saving method of nail care at HOME without using much efforts or time.

a) Manicure for nails at Home

First thing first, if your nails are painted, remove it.  Then file or cut your nail to your desired shape or length. Buff your nails as well as it creates a smooth surface and makes your nails look prettier.

How to buff you nails? :

After you are done with the buffering, it’s time to push back your nail cuticles. Apply some moisturizer to soften the cuticle and then push back them with a cuticle stick. Make sure you are very gentle as they are very delicate. Now it’s time to exfoliate your hands i.e. remove the dead cells. Gently rub your hands with a scrub and the region around your nails with a baby brush to exfoliate them. Wash your hands and dry them completely before the next step. Apply some moisturizer. Give a little massage to your hands. Now apply the base coat of nail paint. You may use a white nail paint for this purpose. Now apply the first layer of nail paint. Let it dry. After about half an hour apply the second layer. Then let it dry. AND voila, you are done!

Manicure Tip 1: Remember to file your nails in one particular direction and not to and fro.

Manicure Tip 2: The best way to dry your nail paint is by dipping them in icy cold water.

b) Pedicure For Nails at Home

Take a tub of hot water. A tub is suggested for pedicure as it will give you enough surface for your feet to get soaked properly. Keep the water at moderate temperate. [Remember water at very high temperature might cause damage to your skin]. Put a couple drops of shampoo into it. Soak your feet for 5-10 minutes. This time is really important as it will soften the skin and will easily help you remove the dead cells and dirt from your skin. Also, you will notice that the shampoo has done it’s magic and cleaned up your skin.

So you need not work much on removing the dirt off your skin. Then lightly brush the region around your nails with a soft brush for removing the dead cells and dirt(if any). If by chance you happen to have a cracked heel. Then firstly clean up your cracked heels. Then gently rub off the dead cells. Apply non-diluted  glycerin on the cracked part. Wear socks. If you want to apply a fresh nail polish to your toe nails, then remove your previous nail polish even before dipping your feet in the water. After you have removed the dead cells, then apply the nail paint and let it dry.

Remember you can’t apply glycerin and nail paint simultaneously.

Pedicure Tip 1: In order to make your nail paint color more vibrant, apply a layer of white nail polish before applying the actual one.

Pedicure Tip 2: Washing your feet and going to bed also ensures a good sleep!

This is the easiest way of doing manicure and pedicure at home.
